Common App Essay Length, Word Limit, How to Write

Varied Sentence Structure Wins

Too many students use simple sentence structures when composing their college common app essay.

It’s okay to use simple sentence structures when it is complemented by more complex structures as well.

Varied sentence structures can really add variety and spice to your common app essay.

How you write the essay is just as important as what you talk about.

Remember, the people who are reviewing your essays are simply human.

They want to read something that is well-written.

I only have one more recommendation beyond this one…

Passion Also Wins

Whatever you choose to write about, make sure it is something you are unbelievably passionate about.

If you aren’t yet passionate about anything in your life, write about something that really inspires positive emotion inside of you.

If you can write about something that brings you tremendous passion, I guarantee your essay will be far more interesting than over 50% of the essays that admissions people read.

When you write about your passion, you don’t have to think so hard about exactly what you will write.

The words will flow right out of you, and a winning essay will be just a couple pages away.
